Joiner - Residential

• Location: Sheffield
• Rate: £22.32 per hour via umbrella
• Job Type: 6-month contract, potential temp-to-perm
• Hours: 37hrs per week, Mon-Fri, 8am - 4pm.

Join our client as a Joiner, responsible for a wide range of carpentry and building fabric repairs within occupied and void housing stock. This role focuses on keeping properties safe, secure, functional, and compliant with housing standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Door Repairs and Replacements: Repair or replace internal and external doors, adjust doors, and install or repair fire doors and associated ironmongery.
• Window Maintenance: Repair timber window frames and sills, replace damaged glazing beads, and ease and adjust opening windows.
• Kitchen Repairs: Fit and repair kitchen units, cupboards, worktops, and plinths, and carry out minor adaptations to existing kitchens.
• Flooring and Stairs: Repair loose or damaged floorboards, replace sections of timber flooring, and repair stairs and related components.
• Roofing and External Timber Repairs: Conduct minor roof timber repairs and replace external timber features like fencing and gates.
• General Property Maintenance: Box in pipework, install storage units, and make good after other trades.
• Health & Safety Responsibilities: Work safely, conduct risk assessments, use appropriate PPE, and maintain compliance with fire safety regulations.
• Tenant-Facing Responsibilities: Communicate professionally with tenants, explain works being undertaken, and keep work areas clean and tidy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• NVQ Lvl 3 or equivalent in Carpentry / Joinery.
• Asbestos qualification.
• Knowledge of social housing maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose faults and complete first-time fixes.
• Good customer service skills.
• Understanding of damp, condensation, and housing-related defects.
• Ability to work independently and manage a daily schedule.
