HVAC Project Manager - #2149135

LAB. is looking for an experienced and commercially driven HVAC Project Manager to join an established project management team.

With over 30 years of trading history, my client is a financially secure, well-established and ambitious business delivering high-quality air conditioning, refrigeration and mechanical solutions to blue-chip clients across the UK.

Their work spans the commercial, retail, healthcare, education and hospitality sectors, ranging from individual HVAC projects through to complex, large-scale commercial installations.

This is a senior role for someone who wants genuine responsibility and autonomy. You will take ownership of projects from tender and pre-construction through procurement, delivery, commercial management, commissioning and final handover.

The Role

As an HVAC Project Manager, you will have responsibility for the successful technical, operational and commercial delivery of your projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, professionally, on programme and to the required margin.

• Prepare and manage tender and quotation activity, including project estimating and cost planning.

• Review technical designs and system proposals, identifying opportunities to improve buildability, performance and commercial value.

• Value engineer projects while protecting system performance, compliance and client requirements.

• Take ownership of project budgets, costs, gross margin and overall project P&L.

• Attend pre-start, design, progress and client meetings and represent the company professionally.

• Produce and manage project health & safety documentation, including RAMS and project-specific plans.

• Develop, agree and manage project programmes, ensuring key milestones and completion dates are achieved.

• Coordinate HVAC and mechanical services with other trades, consultants and the wider construction team.

• Source and procure major plant and equipment, including AHUs, air conditioning equipment, refrigeration systems and cold rooms.

• Procure and manage specialist subcontractors across ductwork, controls, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, pipework and insulation.

• Review and sign off supplier and subcontractor invoices against project commitments and progress.

• Monitor installation quality, carry out snagging and ensure works meet their standards.

• Manage commissioning activities through to successful completion and handover.

• Oversee the preparation and completion of O&M manuals and project handover information.

• Prepare and submit monthly applications, variations and supporting commercial documentation.

• Maintain strong relationships with clients and identify opportunities for repeat business and future project work.

About You

We are looking for an experienced HVAC Project Manager who combines strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness, leadership and the confidence to take ownership.

• Strong experience managing commercial HVAC, air conditioning, refrigeration and/or mechanical projects.

• A strong understanding of project estimating, procurement, cost control, variations and project P&L.

• Good technical knowledge with the ability to review designs, drawings, specifications and system proposals.

• Confident managing projects from pre-construction through delivery, commissioning and handover.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, programmes, subcontractors and stakeholders.

• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce professional quotations, reports and project documentation.

• Commercially aware and confident making decisions that protect both project delivery and profitability.

• A driven, accountable approach with the confidence to take ownership and deliver successful outcomes.

• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-focused attitude.

• A commitment to high standards of workmanship, health & safety and customer service.

• A full, valid UK driving licence.

Salary, Profit Share & Package

£70,000+ basic salary, dependent on experience

Company Profit Share Scheme

(In 2025, the scheme increased each Project Manager's earnings by a further £38,000 through their annual profit share bonus).
