Sue Ross Recruitment are delighted to be working on behalf of a successful and growing business in the manufacturing and operations sector to recruit an experienced Commercial Finance & Systems Lead.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys combining financial management with business improvement and systems development. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will play a key role in providing meaningful financial insight, driving efficiencies, and supporting informed business decision-making.

As Commercial Finance & Systems Lead, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, delivering accurate financial reporting and analysis while helping to improve systems, processes and operational performance across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Producing cashflow forecasts, budgets and financial planning information.
• Managing payroll processes and ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Overseeing stock accounting, reconciliations and valuations.
• Monitoring job, project and departmental profitability.
• Analysing margins, costs and performance trends, highlighting areas for improvement.
• Maintaining robust financial controls and supporting VAT returns, year-end accounts and external audits.
• Supporting the implementation and enhancement of accounting, CRM and business management systems.
• Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, finance and administrative processes.
• Providing clear and practical financial information to Directors and departmental managers.
• Collaborating with stakeholders across the business to support operational and commercial objectives.

The successful candidate will be an experienced finance professional with strong commercial awareness and a proactive approach to improving business performance.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience within a finance, management accounting or commercial accounting role.
• Experience preparing management accounts, forecasts, budgets and financial reports.
• Knowledge of payroll processes and financial controls.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess profitability, margins and costs.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
• Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience.
• Experience within manufacturing, construction, aggregates, engineering or a related industry.
• Knowledge of stock accounting and job costing.
• Experience implementing or improving finance, CRM or ERP systems.
• Familiarity with Sage or similar accounting software.
