Hays are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy as they look to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing Sheffield office.This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Electrical Building Services Engineer to take on a senior role within an established team of over 20 Building Services professionals locally, while collaborating with a wider regional network of more than 100 engineers and technicians across Yorkshire and the North West.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors, taking responsibility for electrical design, client liaison, project delivery and the mentoring of junior engineers.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary design teams to develop innovative and sustainable engineering solutions, helping clients achieve their net zero and decarbonisation objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and delivery of building services projects from feasibility through to completion.
• Produce high-quality technical designs and specifications.
• Collaborate with mechanical, structural and architectural teams on multidisciplinary projects.
• Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
• Manage project programmes, resources and technical delivery.
• Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to digital design initiatives and the continued development of BIM and automation processes.
• Support projects across sectors including:
  • Commercial
  • Residential
  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Energy
  • Sports & Leisure
  • Mixed-Use Developments

Candidate Requirements

We are keen to speak with Electrical Building Services Engineers who can demonstrate:

• Degree qualification in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
• Progress towards Chartered Engineer status or a desire to achieve Chartership.
• Strong technical design experience within a building services consultancy.
• Experience leading electrical design on projects of various sizes and complexity.
• Proven capability working within multidisciplinary design teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior engineers.
• A passion for sustainable building design and low-carbon solutions.
• Experience using industry-standard design software.
• Revit/BIM experience would be advantageous.
