Manufacturing & Dispatch Operative (Metals Industry)

Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Engineering & Metals company in Sheffield who are looking to recruit a Manufacturing & Dispatch Operative to join their growing team.

The Role

As a Warehouse & Metals Dispatch Operative, you will play a key role in the receipt, storage, traceability, picking, packing and dispatch of high-value engineering materials. Working within a quality-driven manufacturing environment, you will ensure materials are handled safely, accurately and in line with company procedures and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming raw materials and complete goods-in checks.
• Safely move and store materials throughout the facility.
• Pick and prepare materials for production and customer orders.
• Maintain accurate stock records and update internal systems.
• Ensure full material traceability through labelling and identification processes.
• Pack products to exceptionally high standards, including palletising, shrink wrapping and banding.
• Assist with stock control and perpetual inventory checks.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks safely and efficiently.
• Support loading and unloading activities.
• Assist with continuous improvement and 6S workplace organisation initiatives.
• Follow all Health & Safety, quality and security procedures.
• Report equipment defects, incidents and near misses promptly.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse and dispatch areas.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous warehouse, stores, dispatch metals or materials handling experience.
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, metals or industrial environments would be advantageous.
• Forklift Truck experience is desirable.
• Overhead crane experience is desirable.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
