Are you an experienced Financial Planning professional who enjoys improving processes, building teams and making things work better?

NJR Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established business advisory practice that is continuing to develop its Financial Planning offering.

They are now looking to appoint an Operations Manager to take ownership of the Financial Planning support function — making this a newly created role with significant autonomy and the opportunity to genuinely shape how the business operates.

This is much more than a traditional operational role. You will have the opportunity to build and develop the support structure, recruit and manage a team, review existing processes and technology, and work closely with Financial Planners to create a more efficient and scalable operation.

There is also the potential for longer-term equity participation, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play a significant part in the future growth of the business.

The Role

Initially, your focus will be on understanding the current support structure, identifying where improvements can be made and ensuring the Financial Planning team has the resource and infrastructure required to support future growth.

You will take ownership of:

• Building and developing the Financial Planning support team as the business grows
• Leading recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of new support staff
• Managing workloads, resource planning, holidays, sickness, one-to-ones and appraisals
• Reviewing the current outsourced paraplanning model and assessing the potential benefits of bringing some or all paraplanning in-house
• Potentially building and developing an internal paraplanning function
• Acting as the key link between Financial Planners, the support team and wider business stakeholders
• Reviewing existing client review and new business processes and identifying opportunities to streamline workflows
• Establishing clear and consistent processes and procedures across the support function
• Ensuring work is allocated effectively and service standards are maintained
• Working alongside Financial Planners to reduce unnecessary administration and allow them to focus on advice, client relationships and business development
• Reviewing the firm's CRM and wider technology infrastructure to ensure systems are being used effectively
• Identifying opportunities to improve existing technology or introduce alternative solutions where appropriate
• Continually assessing capacity and future resource requirements as the Financial Planning business develops

About You

We are keen to speak with individuals who have a background in Financial Planning, Wealth Management or Financial Services, ideally within an operations, practice management or senior support position.

You may currently be working as an:

Operations Manager | Practice Manager | Financial Planning Manager | Senior IFA Administrator | Client Services Manager | Paraplanning Manager | Senior Wealth Management Professional

• You'll have a strong understanding of how Financial Planners, Paraplanners and Administrators work together, alongside a good knowledge of the processes involved in supporting pensions and investment advice.
• Experience of building a team, improving processes or developing a support function would be highly advantageous.
• An understanding of paraplanning and the wider advice process would also be particularly useful given the opportunity to potentially bring elements of the current outsourced paraplanning model in-house.
• Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is hands-on, commercially minded and comfortable taking ownership.
• You won't simply be maintaining existing processes. You'll be encouraged to challenge the way things are currently done, make recommendations and implement improvements that can genuinely make a difference.
