Role: Head of Organic Performance – Sheffield
Salary: £50k - £55k per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm

The role is responsible for organic growth across search, AI discovery, technical SEO, content, authority and ecommerce.
We want someone who understands the landscape businesses are now struggling to navigate. Senior enough to steer the ship, credible enough to challenge thinking and technical enough to work directly with developers.
You will own the organic proposition across the business and help us improve how clients are discovered through Google, AI platforms and the wider web.
You will lead organic performance across a portfolio of clients.
That includes:
- Technical SEO
- Content strategy implementation
- Ecommerce SEO
- Information architecture assessment & implementation
- Internal linking
- Structured data
- Entity optimisation
- Digital PR and authority
- AI search visibility
- GEO / AEO
- Competitor analysis
- Organic conversion opportunities
- Measurement and reporting
You will decide what matters, what does not, and what needs to happen next.
We are not looking for someone to produce long audits and lists of recommendations.
We are looking for someone who can identify the highest-value opportunities and turn them into action.
The Role:
Technical SEO
You will need strong technical SEO knowledge.
You should be comfortable working with:
- Crawlability and indexation
- Rendering
- JavaScript
- Canonicals
- Redirects
- Robots directives
- XML sitemaps
- Pagination
- Faceted navigation
- Structured data
- Core Web Vitals
- Internal linking
- Site architecture
- International SEO
- Ecommerce platforms

- Search engine and AI crawler behaviour
You do not need to be a developer, but you will be working directly with developers and your recommendations need to stand up technically.
AI search and discovery
AI search is part of the role.
You will be expected to understand and investigate visibility across platforms such as:
- ChatGPT
- Gemini
- Perplexity
- Copilot
You will help us understand why brands are being surfaced, cited or ignored.
Content and authority
You will help influence content strategy across core user journeys and commercial landing pages.
The objective is not to publish more content.
It is to create content that earns visibility and supports commercial outcomes.
You will also work across authority and trust signals including:
- Links
- Brand mentions
- Reviews
- Third-party citations
- Industry coverage
- Expert profiles
- Partnerships and associations
Ecommerce
Experience with complex ecommerce websites will be important. You should understand the issues created by:
- Large catalogues
- Product variants
- Categories
- Filtering
- Faceted navigation
- Pagination
- Out-of-stock products
- Seasonal ranges
- Duplicate content
- Product feeds
- Manufacturer pages
- Large-scale metadata
Experience with Magento / Adobe Commerce & Shopify is essential, WooCommerce would be useful.
Data and commercial performance
We care about commercial performance so there will be an expectation to understand and report on areas such as:
- Organic revenue
- Qualified leads
- Non-brand visibility
- Conversion
- Brand demand
- Share of search
- Landing-page performance
- AI visibility
- Citation frequency
- Organic contribution
You should be comfortable with:
- Google Search Console
- GA4
- Semrush
- Screaming Frog
- Google Trends
- AI visibility tools
- Crawling and diagnostic tools
The important part is not knowing how to use the tools. It is knowing what to look for.
You will have full ownership on how we report all of this information centrally, so any preference such as Looker Studios is worth bringing to our attention.
Client leadership
This is a senior client-facing role.
You will work directly with founders, Marketing Directors, Ecommerce Directors and their supporting teams.
You will lead:
- Performance strategy sessions
- Performance reviews
- SEO workshops
- AI search workshops
- Competitor analysis
- Technical reviews
- Content planning
- Executive presentations
Essential skills & Attributes:
We are looking for someone with strong senior-level experience across organic search.
You should have:
- Strong technical SEO knowledge
- Proven experience developing organic growth strategies
- Experience with complex websites
- Strong ecommerce SEO knowledge
- Experience with content strategy
- Experience with authority and link acquisition
- Strong analytical skills
- Commercial awareness
- Confidence working with senior clients
- A good understanding of AI search
- The ability to prioritise effectively
- The confidence to challenge weak thinking
