Cybersecurity Architect / SME – IBM MQ Security

Location: Sheffield, UK (Hybrid/onsite requirements to be confirmed)

Contract: Inside IR35

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a highly experienced Cybersecurity Architect / Subject Matter Expert to strengthen the security of IBM MQ and enterprise messaging platforms within a global banking environment.

This is an opportunity to influence security architecture, assess existing controls, and lead security improvements across a complex, business-critical messaging estate.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on expertise in IBM MQ security architecture and secure enterprise messaging.
• Deep knowledge of encryption, TLS/mTLS, PKI, certificates, secrets management, and data protection.
• Strong understanding of IAM, authentication and authorisation, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, and Zero Trust.
• Experience with cloud security, preferably GCP, alongside Kubernetes, API security, and service mesh.
• Proven experience in security architecture, risk management, governance, and compliance within regulated environments.
• Excellent technical leadership and stakeholder management skills, with 15+ years of overall experience.

Desirable: Global banking or financial services experience, particularly leading cybersecurity control reviews, assessments, and strategic security improvement programmes.
