CRA Consulting

Role: Personal Injury Legal Assistant
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Contract: Full time, permanent
Salary: £24,000 - £26,000

CRA Consulting is pleased to be working alongside a leading claimant law firm in Sheffield to recruit a Personal Injury Legal Assistant to join its growing team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in Personal Injury, legal administration or paralegal work who is looking to develop their technical knowledge and take on greater responsibility within a busy claimant environment.
The role will initially involve supporting the team across a range of Personal Injury matters, with the opportunity to transition into Data Breach and GDPR-related claims as your experience develops.

The Role
As a Legal Assistant, you will be hands-on with live matters and closely involved in progressing claims from initial instruction through to resolution. You'll work alongside experienced fee earners and solicitors, gaining exposure to the wider claims process and taking on increasing responsibility as you develop.
Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day progression of Personal Injury claims
  • Liaising with clients, insurers, medical professionals and other third parties
  • Preparing and reviewing legal documentation and correspondence
  • Obtaining and reviewing supporting evidence and medical records
  • Assisting with drafting statements and other case documentation
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records
  • Managing key dates, deadlines and ongoing case actions
  • Supporting fee earners with the progression of litigated and pre-litigation matters
  • Developing an understanding of Data Breach and GDPR claims, with a view to transitioning into this area of work
  • Taking on increased responsibility for your own caseload as your knowledge and confidence develops

Progression into Data Breach
A key part of the opportunity is the genuine progression into Data Breach work.
You'll receive support and training to develop your understanding of claims arising from data breaches and GDPR infringements, including the impact these incidents can have on individuals. The Legal Assistants within the team are very involved in the progression of matters, so this is much more than a traditional administrative support role.

Over time, there is the opportunity to take on more responsibility and develop your own expertise within this specialist area.
About You
The firm is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, but you are likely to have:

  • Previous experience within a legal environment
  • Ideally, some exposure to Personal Injury, claimant work or litigation
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage a busy workload and work to deadlines
  • A genuine interest in developing your legal knowledge and taking on greater responsibility
  • A proactive and client-focused approach

This could suit an experienced Legal Assistant, Paralegal or Personal Injury support professional who is looking for a role offering hands-on experience, specialist training and genuine career progression.
The Opportunity

You'll be joining an established team in Sheffield with the opportunity to build on your existing legal experience and develop specialist knowledge in an area of growing importance.
For the right person, this role offers a clear route from Personal Injury Legal Assistant into specialist Data Breach work, with increasing responsibility and opportunities to progress within the team.
